Your are visiting the FAQ for HOPP page Frequently Asked Questions about the HOPP program
What is the difference between a Session and a Client? A session may occur multiple times per month with the same client. In HOPP it is the session that is measured on a per month basis and not the number of clients in the practice.
Are Session Costs and variable costs the same? Yes, variable costs are any costs that can be identified that apply to a session. Rent is typically a fixed costs whereas disposable materials such as examination gloves, medicine, or recording material would be considered a Session costs.
Can I use two copies of the program, one for my laptop and one for the desktop? Yes, Hilosoft recognizes that users will most likely operate the program from home as well as the office, therefore up to three (3) user licensees are provided with each program by using the same issued serial numbers. More licenses are available by contacting Hilosoft support at http://www.hilosoft.com/support Return to the top You mention Sample Projects. What are the file names? There are three sample projects to serve as examples in three different industries. Alpha Body Works is a sample program in the Massage Therapy business, the project is located in the Saved Files folder located in the same folder location as the main program. The other two projects are named, Seminars and Rehab. These sample projects reflect the diversity of HOPP and how it may be used to analyze the various types of businesses in the service sector. All the projects are easily adapted to a specific application by overwriting the numbers and text data and filling in your own information. Be sure to save the modified project with a new name or you will overwrite your sample. Why doesn’t the Budget Sheet use depreciation and amortization? Depreciation and amortization are terms used in accrual accounting systems. The HOPP application measures future cash flow based on the projections of cash received and cash spent within a measurement period. In accounting terms HOPP uses the cash method based on receipts and disbursements (cash out). Can I use the HOPP program as an accounting system? No. HOPP is a prediction tool and has nothing to do with historical information. Accounting systems deal with the past. In business, all historical financial information must be accounted for in a standardized manner. HOPP deals with projections and "what if" scenarios and is a very important tool for planning. No financial tool can peer into the future and give you an exact view of what is to be, however, HOPP along with thoughtful input information will provide a good deal of insight. Return to the top How can I have several prices for the same service? The HOPP program allows up to three different types of session pricing at one time. An example would be a normal price for one of the Session prices, then a discounted price for the other session, and the third session might be for an entirely different type of service. All three types may be projected and analyzed together. Another example is providing services as one type of session and then recurring revenue as another type. See the TIPs manual under Session Costs for more information. Can I change the proposed price without going back and forth between different sheets? Yes, from the Summary and Forecast sheets prices may be adjusted as well as the SessionCosts sheet. Any price changes on any of these sheets will cause the other sheets to update automatically. This is especially useful when analyzing from the Forecast or Summary sheets where the change in pricing is immediately reflected in the summary results. Is there a place where I can get exact numbers for the wages overhead percentage? Yes, the United States Department of Labor - Bureau of Labor Statistics www.bls.gov/ect Can I change the date after I have completed a project? Yes, go to the Start Sheet and enter a new date in the Start Date cell, all data will be preserved. Can I make several versions of the same project? Return to the Top Yes, from the drop down menu, File->Save Current Project. When the dialog box comes up, enter a new name and click OK. Is the bottom line the same as profit in a normal company? The bottom line in HOPP represents cash that is left over from the projected operations. We could also say, the remainder of cash in, minus all costs from operations. In companies this is also known as pre-tax operating profit. It is sometimes referred to as EBITA. In an accounting system, profit or the bottom line describes income minus expenses including taxes, depreciation, interest, and amortization. Corporate profit which is usually based on an accrual system where a balance sheet measuring the assets of the company are also taken in consideration. Can I include the individual sheet data along with the Output Report? Yes, to print each sheet, from the drop down menu click on File->Print this page. Then assemble each page with the Output Report printed copy as an appendix. Will the HOPP program work on Mac computers? Yes, but the Mac computer must be an Intel version and have either the Windows XP or Vista Operating System in conjunction with the Apple program called "Boot Camp" (or equivalent) that allows Apple (Intel versions) to run Microsoft Windows applications. Is there a way to resell HOPP programs to my clients? Yes, Hilosoft does have a client referral program.
